Natural gas

At AES, we leverage the flexibility of natural gas to foster a smooth, secure transition to a renewable grid. Our natural gas power plants and liquified natural gas (LNG) operations offer reliability that the power will continue to flow even when solar or wind energy ebbs. As the largest importer of US liquified natural gas (LNG) in Central America and the Caribbean with over $1 billion in investments, we are supporting the region and stabilizing energy costs.

Natural gas and LNG benefits

Natural gas, the cleanest fossil fuel, replaces heavier fuels like coal and diesel. Widely available in the United States, it serves as a flexible resource to reduce energy costs and support renewable energy. In its liquefied form, it can be easily transported over long distances, including across oceans.
