Let's take action to support affordable, reliable
renewable energy that benefits our community.
As a long-term owner-operator with our global headquarters in the Commonwealth, we know what it means to develop energy solutions in the places where we both work and live. Virginia has set the goal to produce 100% of its electricity from carbon-free sources by the year 2050, and we are prepared to help the state achieve this goal.
Today, we have two solar projects in operation capable of generating 660 MW of electricity and several more in development AES employs hundreds of Virginians, and we're excited to bring innovative clean energy solutions to the state we call home.
Renewable energy benefits you and your community
- Renewable energy supports job creation, increased local funding, low property taxes, cost-effective energy solutions and American independence from foreign energy sources.
- Creates new local tax revenue to help fund essential county services such as local schools, law enforcement, fire departments, and infrastructure.
- Respects the rights of landowners to responsibly use their property.
- Provides a boost to the local economy during construction and introduces new permanent, local jobs during the 35-year life of the project.
Preserving our community
Projects are located on private lands that are visually screened with trees and plants.
How can you trust that we care about renewable energy that works for you?
Because we work and live here, too.
We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible renewable energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities. Our renewable energy projects create new tax dollars that keep taxes low while conserving wetlands, forests and open space.
Creating new opportunities with landowners
We work with landowners to tap into new sources of revenue on their land while retaining ownership throughout the entire life of the project. For many, this is a welcome complement to their land use and an opportunity to diversify their land investment while hedging against volatile commodity prices. For others, our projects offer an income stream and land-use option where none otherwise existed.
At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the land to be sensitively restored to pre-project conditions to allow a return to agricultural use or other uses consistent with land-use policies at the time. Our projects are intentionally developed to create a long-lasting, positive impact for our landowners and local communities.
Continuing family legacies, together
We partner with communities to build a brighter future for generations to come.
